Want This Hamptons Home? That’ll Be $2 Million a Month

The Hamptons have long been a famed summer retreat for wealthy elites and a fair few media industry stars. The list of notables who own a beachside palace on the easternmost strip of Long Island ranges from Anthony Scaramucci to Beyoncé. But more eye-popping than the White Party guest list or Jerry Seinfeld’s vintage Porsche collection are the price tags for the unlucky few who choose to rent their way into a summer paradise.
And this year, homes are breaking records with absurd summer rental price tags — with one taking the prize: 165 Surfside Drive, an 8,600 square foot modernist mansion in Bridgehampton, which is renting for a staggering $2 million for the month of August.
No, that’s not $2 million for the year. That’s how much you’ll be forking over to spend a single month on Surfside Drive.
To add insult to injury: the beachfront estate sits on an eye-poppingly modest 1.24 acres.

The home itself boasts more impressive stats: Eight bedrooms, a six-car garage, a 4,400 square foot roof deck, and a putting green are just some of the many amenities one can find in this lavish summer rental. Three stories, two kitchens – “a secondary service kitchen and pantry ensure effortless entertaining,” the listing proclaims – and floor-to-ceiling windows are featured throughout.

Of course, if you wanted to be a bit more frugal, you could check out 70 Cobb Lane in Water Mill, which previously held the record for most expensive Hamptons rental.
It’ll run you $1.25 million from August 1st to Labor Day. Sure, this home sits on more than 12 acres of land – and boasts a 14-seat movie theatre, a 2-lane bowling alley, a 750-gallon shark tank, and a pool house surrounded by a literal moat – but the lack of ocean views might be a dealbreaker for some.

While Surfside might not have the trump card on acreage, it does bring home the prize for being one of the most expensive rental properties available in the Hamptons this year. Just about $64,000 a day, and you too can escape the summer heat. As the Surfside listing reads, “luxury permeates every inch.”
