WATCH: James Comer Goes at It With Reporter, Urges Him To Join the Biden ‘Legal Defense Team’

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) sparred with members of the press ahead of Hunter Biden’s closed door appearance before his committee on Wednesday, at one point urging a reporter to join President Joe Biden’s legal defense team.

The first reporter to draw Comer’s ire asked  “Chairman, you keep saying the Bidens, suggesting that it includes President Biden. But what evidence do you have directly linking President Biden beyond a dinner, a letter, a copy, and some appearances on speakerphone? You keep saying the Bidens, we’re talking about President Biden specifically. What evidence do you have that he profited off of his son’s foreign business dealings?”

Comer answered that there “two checks” that Biden received as a result of his son’s “influence-peddling scheme,” one for $200,000 and another for $40,000.

The reporter continued to question whether Biden was involved in any way, prompting Comer to insist that the money got to the president through “money laundering.”

“This is a very serious crime,” he argued.

Comer’s back-and-forth with another journalist was much more tense.

“Mr. Chairman, what evidence do you have that either as vice president or as president, Joe Biden used his political office in any way to benefit either Hunter or James Biden’s business?” inquired the reporter. When Comer began to respond by describing Biden’s meeting with Chinese business partners, the journalist cut him off and the two began to talk over one another.

After Comer wondered aloud if anyone questioned whether the Bidens were peddling Joe Biden’s influence for profit, the reporter interjected again to assert that “there’s a lot of questions about it, sir, because there was no evidence that Joe Biden did anything.”

“He got $200,000 from it!” replied Comer.

The two then began to argue over whether that was improper, with the reporter citing the fact that Biden wasn’t in office at the time.

“You can defend Joe Biden all day long, you can defend Joe Biden, you can be on his legal defense team — Kevin Morris will probably cut your legal bills if you want,” declared Comer.

Later after the reporter began shouting at the Comer, asking what Biden had done wrong in his capacity as a public official, Comer urged him to “calm down.”

“It’s OK, it’s OK. All the angry liberals hear what you’re saying — they’ll be alright,” he added.
