WATCH: Shocking Video Shows Deadly New Mexico Flood Literally Carrying House Away

Shocking video out of Ruidoso, New Mexico showed flooding so bad that a house was literally lifted off its foundation and swept downstream as frightened residents watched in horror.

Heavy rain in New Mexico set off massive flooding in the small village, just under 200 miles outside of Albuquerque. According to officials, at least three died after being swept up in the flooding. The small village released a statement revealing a 7-year-old male, 4-year-old female, and 40-50 year-old male were casualties of the historic disaster.

“All three individuals were caught in the rushing floodwaters and carried downstream during the catastrophic flooding event that saw the Rio Ruidoso rise to a record-breaking 20 feet – five feet higher than the previous record,” the statement reads.

One video from the flooding shows a home literally being carried downstream.

“Oh no. Oh my God,” an onlooker said as they watched the house consumed by the flooding.

Emergency crews conducted dozens of rescue operations. According to the official statement, “heavy monsoonal rains fell on burn scar areas from last year’s South Fork and Salt fires, creating dangerous conditions that led to rapid water rise throughout the village.”

The Salt Fork and Salt fires in June 2024 claimed two lives and destroyed more than 800 homes.

“The entire Village of Ruidoso extends our deepest sympathy and compassion to these grieving families during this unimaginably difficult time. We are united in our sorrow and our commitment to supporting one another as we face this devastating loss together,” Mayor Lynn Crawford said.

The New Mexico flooding follows several parts of Texas being hit with massive flooding that has led to more than 100 deaths, dozens of them children. More than 100 are still missing as rescue operations continue to be carried out.
