WATCH: Trump Confronted About Whether He’d Appoint a Special Counsel On Epstein — Refuses to Answer

President Donald Trump refused to answer when confronted about whether he would appoint a special counsel in the Jeffrey Epstein probe — despite notable reporting in conservative media that he privately indicated he was open to it.

As he was departing the East Room of the White House following a speech Wednesday afternoon, the president was asked about the possibility of a special counsel on Epstein.

“Would you consider appointing a special counsel to investigate the Jeffrey Epstein investigation?” The reporter asked.

The president’s reply was curt.

“I have nothing to do with it,” Trump said, and immediately walked off.

The brisk non-answer seems to fly in the face of reporting from conservative journalist John Solomon earlier on Wednesday. Appearing on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast, Solomon said that Trump actually volunteered the idea of a special counsel — amid continued outrage from the president’s supporters over his handling of the Epstein investigation.

“He immediately volunteered it, and then I followed up on it,” Solomon said. “But he immediately brings up Epstein. Like, ‘Just throw that into it, let’s get it all answered. I got nothing to hide. I want truth, and I want prosecutions and I just want the justice system to take care of what needs to be taken care of.'”

Publicly, Trump has repeatedly stated his desire to move on from Epstein — and even belittled his own supporters for their continued interest.

“My PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Wednesday. He added, “Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!”
