‘What!?’ Jon Stewart Puts Kamala Harris on Blast for Snubbing Pete Buttigieg in Veepstakes

Jon Stewart put former Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris on blast for passing on Pete Buttigieg as her running mate last year because he’s gay during a newly released conversation with Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin.

During a discussion about candidate authenticity, Stewart submitted that New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani has been “able to identify the crux of the issue, and very simply present some ideas that might be able to battle that.”

“It’s simpler than authenticity, and the messenger, and the metrics,” he offered.

“Well, I do think it’s simpler than that, because at the end of the day, right, we could have plenty of people who are saying the exact same thing, who aren’t believed by the voters. At the end of the day, this is where authenticity matters. It’s not just saying something, right?”

“Well, you have to believe it, certainly,” replied Stewart.

“But that’s the point. The reason we’ve lost trust is because people don’t believe that we actually believe the shit we’re selling them. That we’re saying-, that we’re telling them what they want to hear,” continued Martin.

“To my point,” interjected Stewart, “in the book when she says, ‘I didn’t go with Pete Buttigieg cause he’s gay. And that’d be too far.’ And you’re like, ‘Oh my God, it’s actually reverse affirmative action.’ It’s like, ‘What!?'”
