‘Recipe for Chaos’: Rand Paul Piles on More Harsh Trump Criticism After Being Called ‘Nasty Liddle Guy’
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) responded to President Donald Trump’s “nasty little guy” insult by doubling down on his position that the administration is breaking the law with their strikes on alleged drug smuggling boats in the Caribbean Sea.
Paul joined Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored on Tuesday, where he claimed that he enjoyed the president’s “company” and “personality” despite his personal insults.
“You know, I don’t take it too seriously,” Paul told Morgan after listening to him read Trump’s insult. “I’ve known President Trump for over a decade, I’ve played golf with him a couple dozen times. I actually enjoy his company and his personality most of the time, but it doesn’t mean I’m going to be a rubber stamp or agree with everything.”
Paul blasted his own party and argued he receives pushback on things that shouldn’t be considered “weird,” like passing a balanced budget and reducing debt.
In his conversation with Morgan, Paul argued there is no legal basis for the president’s strikes. The senator called it “summary execution” without any legal process.
“We don’t blow up boats off Miami because 25% of the time suspicion is wrong. We shouldn’t do it off Venezuela either. These are small outboards with no fentanyl and no path to Florida. We can’t just kill indiscriminately because we are not at war. It’s summary execution!” he wrote on X while sharing a clip from the interview. “Everyone gets a trial because sometimes, the system gets it wrong. Even the worst of the worst in our country get due process. The bottom line is that execution without process is not justice, and blowing up foreign ships is a recipe for chaos.”
Trump slammed Paul as a “nasty liddle guy” in a Truth Social post over his recent criticism.
“Whatever happened to ‘Senator’ Rand Paul? He was never great, but he went really BAD! I got him elected, TWICE (in the Great Commonwealth of Kentucky!), but he just never votes positively for the Republican Party,” the president wrote. “He’s a nasty liddle’ guy, much like ‘Congressman’ Thomas Massie, aka Rand Paul Jr., also of Kentucky (which I won three times, in massive landslides!), a sick Wacko, who refuses to vote for our great Republican Party, MAGA, or America First. It’s really weird!!!”
