Charlamagne Says Dr. Fauci Pleading The Fifth Looked ‘Suspicious’: ‘Why Did He Need a Pardon?’

Charlamagne Tha God said Dr. Anthony Fauci came across as “suspicious” and only made “conspiracy theorists” happy with his Senate hearing, where he invoked the Fifth Amendment more than 100 times.

On Thursday’s The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne found himself a little less supportive of Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, than his co-hosts.

“Y’all don’t think it’s fishy that he got a pardon? Why did he need a pardon?” Charlamagne asked at one point.

The radio host said Fauci’s refusal to answer any questions was “suspicious” and he dismissed the idea that the longtime health official could be “trapped” if he didn’t do anything wrong.

Charlamagne said:

I will say I never understood why Dr. Fauci needed a pardon if there was no crime committed or nothing was done wrong. And when you think of every conspiracy theorist that accused him of everything from creating or covering up the virus, the profiting from mandates and vaccines, it does look suspicious that he won’t answer questions. And the language. How can somebody trap you if you’re not doing nothing wrong? Like, you can’t trap me if I’m not doing anything wrong. What am I gonna say?

Conspiracy theorists, he added later, “are happy this morning.”

Multiple Republican senators got heated in their questioning of Fauci and his refusal to answer any questions on the Covid-19 pandemic, the virus’s origins, or his role in lockdown measures taken during the height of the pandemic.

Things got so heated, Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-OH) cursed at Fauci, and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who chaired the hearing, threw out Fauci’s lawyer for interrupting and not following the guidance of the Senate committee.

Paul warned Fauci that there will be a vote next week to hold him in contempt of Congress. Legal experts have been mixed on whether that would actually hold up in court. Paul argued Fauci was “unsupported” in his Fifth Amendment strategy because of his presidential pardon and the fact that he gave an opening statement.

Charlamagne argued Fauci and anyone should be ready to answer questions if they’re “clean.”

“I just feel like no one can trap you if you’re not doing anything wrong, you know what I’m saying? I’ll sit down and answer any question if I know that I’m clean,” he said.
