Mike Tomlin Abruptly Ends Press Conference When Asked About His Contract After Getting Bounced from Playoffs

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin did not appreciate a question regarding his contract in a postgame presser, so much so that he walked off the stage.

The Steelers lost their Super Wild Card matchup against the Buffalo Bills 31-17 in Orchard Park, New York on Monday. After falling behind 21-0 in the second quarter, Pittsburgh made the game interesting early in the fourth quarter by pulling to within 24-17. But Josh Allen put the contest away with a touchdown pass to Khalil Shakir with six and a half minutes left.

Tomlin’s Steelers have not won a playoff game since the divisional round of the 2016-17 season and naturally, there are questions about his future with the organization. One such question came up on Monday night after Tomlin answered a series of questions about the game.

“Mike, you have a year left on your contract,” the reporter began.

Tomlin  immediately walked away from the lectern and NFL Network cut back to the studio.

“And Mike Tomlin, exit stage left,” said Andrew Siciliano. “It has often been discussed this year in Pittsburgh that Tomlin is heading into – for better for worse – a lame duck season, which is what we call coaches or players in their final year. Normally, before said season it is traditional for, in almost any sport, to extend that coach or that manager if you want that guy around.”
