Mike Tyson suffered a “health scare” over the weekend during a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. It comes less than two months before his fight with Jake Paul.
According to a Monday report from Mirror, the medical emergency occurred approximately 30 minutes before landing on Sunday evening. Tyson, 57, reportedly experienced dizziness and nausea stemming from an ulcer flare-up.
A spokesperson later told the Mirror that Tyson was “doing great.” Additionally, Tyson has “no intention” of pulling out of the fight with Paul.
Tyson is set to face Paul – 30 years his junior – on July 20 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. The heavyweight bout, which has been sanctioned as a professional fight by a Texas commission, will be broadcast exclusively on Netflix as the streaming service begins investing in live sports.
Both men have dismissed the idea of Tyson being replaced in what will be one of the biggest spectacles in the sport this year. Lightweight boxer Ryan Garcia, who recently had his own high-profile fight against Devin Haney, took to social media to volunteer as a potential replacement. Paul was not amused.
“Everyone is trying to do everything they can to hurt this fight and attack me,” Paul responded. “You should know about that.”
