Reporter Asks Tampa Bay Bucs Coach if Team Is Prepared to Handle the Cold Against the Lions — Who Play in a Dome
Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Todd Bowles had an awkward exchange with a reporter after being asked about braving the cold against the Detroit Lions — a team that plays indoors.
With their blowout win against the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday, the Bucs will travel to Detroit to face the Lions in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs. The Lions will host their second consecutive playoff game.
The first round of the postseason saw its fair share of harsh weather conditions, from historical chills to severe blizzards. Fortunately for the Lions, they were spared from the rigid Midwest cold thanks to the fact that Ford Field is a dome.
One reporter, however, seemed to be unaware of that. During Bowles media availability, the coach was asked how he’ll prepare his team to play in the cold.
“You do know we play indoors, right?” Bowles responded. “They got a dome. No, nothing planned. We’re indoors and we only have to outside for 20 seconds getting off the bus [and] going under the thing, so we’ll be OK.”
The Lions have played in Ford Field since 2002. Before that, they played in the Pontiac Silverdome starting in 1975. In short, the team has been in domes for nearly 50 years.
