There Is a New Contender for Worst National Anthem Ever Thanks to the MLB Home Run Derby

Country singer Ingrid Andress became social media’s main character Monday night for her singing of the national anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby.

The 32-year-old — a four-time Grammy nominee — performed an unorthodox rendition of The Star-Spangled Banner ahead of the competition. Making matters was the fact that there appeared to be some technical issues, resulting in the audio sounding off. It even threw off Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm so much that he had to contain his laughter when the broadcast showed him.

By the end, the crowd seemed to be mixed on the performance as it didn’t sound like the usual applause one would hear after the singing of the national anthem.

On social media, Andress’ performance was universally panned.

Andress’ performance also drew comparisons to Fergie’s at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game.
