‘This Ain’t Fox News!’ Charles Barkley Loses It on Co-Host, Tells Him ‘You Don’t Have To Repeat Everything the Idiots Say’
Charles Barkley gave Kenny Smith an earful during CBS’s coverage of the NCAA Men’s Tournament on Thursday.
Smith, a University of North Carolina alum, picked the Tar Heels to win the title despite the fact many do not believe they should even be in the tournament after an underwhelming regular season. UNC, an 11-seed, defeated San Diego State on Wednesday in a play-in game and will take on six-seed Ole Miss on Friday.
“I’m gonna have UNC, of course, going over here,” Smith said, filling out his bracket on a whiteboard and predicting the Tar Heels will win it all.
“Are you serious?” Barkley asked. “Are you serious? Y’all make fun of me for being unbiased–”
“Listen, I don’t lie about being biased,” Smith shot back.
“We’re supposed to be unbiased,” Barkley insisted.
“No, you’re not!” Smith exclaimed.
“What are we, Fox News?” Barkley replied. “What are we, Fox News in here now? This ain’t Fox News. You don’t have to repeat everything the idiots say every day.”
Earlier in the broadcast, Smith needled Barkley on set, saying the Round Mound of Rebound did not become a good player until he got to the NBA.
“You got good in the pros,” Smith told him before calling him “an overweight point guard in high school.”
“I’m overweight?” Barkley reacted. “Call HR over here, somebody.”
Fox met Barkley’s comments with an eye roll and pointed to his brief stint as co-host of the CNN show, King Charles, which was canceled due to poor ratings.
