CBS analyst and former NFL quarterback Tony Romo had a questionable moment in the booth Sunday when he made an extremely awkward noise in reaction to a play.

Romo was in Buffalo with his broadcast partner Jim Nantz to call the game between the Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs. Near the end of the first quarter of the game, the Chiefs were driving down the field when Romo thought a Bills player committed a defensive penalty. Upon watching the replay, Romo noted that there were actually multiple violations by the Bills on the play.

“And you’ll see right here: pulled,” Romo said in reference to the Bills defender holding the Chiefs receiver, “and then another hold right there. I think it was a little uh–”

When Romo tried to hold that “uh”, what came out sounded like a combination of struggle and then relief.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, many of the responses to the clip joked about the crude scenarios in which such a sound would be made.

For those who are familiar with that Romo brings to the broadcast booth, the moment was virtually inevitable. Since getting into broadcasting several years ago, Romo has developed a reputation of letting out a series of weird noises to voice his uncertainty. It’s since become a running joke.
