Sunday’s post-game pleasantries between the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills came close to spiraling into chaos when a pair of players nearly fought.
The Bills returned from their Week 7 bye in dominating fashion, beating the Panthers 40-9 to improve to 5-2. Just moments after the game ended and the sidelines emptied onto the field for the post-game handshakes, a brief scuffle broke out. As shown by ESPN’s Kimberley Martin, the altercation was between Bills offensive lineman Dion Dawkins and Panthers defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson. In the video she recorded and posted on X, the two had already been separated but continued to jaw at one another. Martin asked Dawkins what happened, and he claimed things got heated when he went to shake Robinson’s hand.
Martin later posted footage of the full exchange. As Dawkins was shaking hands and speaking with other Panthers players, Robinson approached him. It was immediately apparently that the dialogue between the two was not positive, and Robinson even took his helmet off to get closer to Dawkins’s face. When they were chest-to-chest, other players quickly noticed and tried to separate them. When Dawkins got close to Robinson again, Robinson forcefully shoved him back. Then, even more players and coaches swarmed the scene to break it up.
