WATCH: Michigan Coach Juwan Howard Punches an Opposing Coach, Sparking Wild Brawl

Following their game in Madison, WI on Sunday, Michigan head coach Juwan Howard threw a punch at an opposing coach for the Wisconsin Badgers — sparking a wild scene.

The incident occurred during the postgame handshake line — when Howard and Wisconsin head coach Greg Gard exchanged heated words. Howard was upset that Gard called a timeout with 15 seconds remaining in the game and the outcome already decided — given Wisconsin was leading by 15. Howard confronted Gard and the two had to be separated by players and coaches from both sides.

Then, Howard threw an open right-hand shot at Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft, which landed on the coach’s face. From there, the two sides began to brawl — with members of both teams pushing, shoving, and several even throwing punches.

The scene was brought under control after about 45 seconds. CBS commentators Andrew Catalon and Steve Lappas condemned Howard’s actions, as they narrated the bizarre confrontation.

“I wouldn’t be happy either,” Lappas said, remarking on Gard’s timeout with the game already in hand. “But there’s no excuse for this. Absolutely none!”

“Zero excuse,” Catalon added. “This cannot happen!”

Howard eventually left the court, with the Wisconsin crowd booing him vigorously.
