Aaron Sorkin Confirms Christian Bale Will Play Steve Jobs in Biopic

Following in Ashton Kutcher’s footsteps, Christian Bale has officially been cast as Apple founder Steve Jobs in a new biopic written by Aaron Sorkin, who scored an Oscar in 2011 for his screenplay about another tech giant, Mark Zuckerberg, in The Social Network. Sorkin confirmed the rumors of Bale’s casting in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

“We needed the best actor on the board in a certain age range, and that’s Chris Bale,” Sorkin said, adding that he “couldn’t be more excited” about the casting decision.

“He didn’t have to audition,” the writer said, revealing that Bale will have more dialogue in the film that most actors have in three films combined. “There’s a tremendous amount of language, so it’s an extremely difficult part and he’s going to crush it.”

Danny Boyle, who helped Trainspotting and Slumdog Millionaire, is set to direct Bale in Sorkin’s script, which is based on Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography.
