ADL Chief Laments ‘Just Unbelievable’ Weekend of ‘Hate’ That Included Protesters Calling Jerry Seinfeld ‘Nazi Scum’
Jonathan Greenblatt, the head of the Anti-Defamation League, lamented on Monday the events of the past weekend, which he slammed as “just unbelievable.”
“Quite a weekend. Farrakhan in Detroit railing against @ADL & the Jews. Frenzied protesters outside @92ndStreetY screaming anti-Jewish hate at @bariweiss & @jerryseinfeld, and berating attendees. Disturbing conspiracy theories & neo-Nazis at @CPAC. Just unbelievable,” Greenblatt wrote on X.
Louis Farrakhan, 90, who leads the Nation of Islam, spoke for over three hours on Sunday and slammed Israel’s ongoing war against Hamas in Gaza, which has left scores of Palestinians dead.
The Detroit Free Press’s Niraj Warikoo reported that “Farrakhan also pushed some conspiracy theories, alleging that Netanyahu knew about Hamas’ plans to attack Oct 7 in advance, saying he used them as an excuse to commit genocide against Palestinians. There are no credible reports that Netanyahu knew about the attacks beforehand.” Farrakhan has a long history of making explicit anti-Semitic statements, including comparing Jews to termites.
Video of Seinfeld being shouted at by anti-Israel protesters in New York City went viral over the weekend. Protesters shouted things like “Nazi scum,” “genocide supporter,” “you support genocide,” “free Palestine,” “f*ck you,” and “f*cking p***y,” according to a report from the Daily Mail.
Greenblatt also referred to the lineup and attendees at the Conservative Political Action Conference held outside of Washington, DC late last week. Trump addressed the conference on Saturday, which NBC News reported was attended by well-known neo-Nazis and included conspiracy theorists like Jack Posobiec as a speaker.
