Apatow Rips Cosby: Like a ‘Pedophile Priest’

apatowDirector Judd Apatow has been mercilessly prosecuting accused serial sexual assaulter Bill Cosby, and he didn’t let up on New Day Wednesday morning, saying the scandal is the worst thing to ever happen in show business, and likening Cosby to a pedophile priest.

“He got a pass because he’s like a pedophile priest,” Apatow said. “He does an enormous amount of positive to the world then has this other side. No one wants to attack someone who is so charitable…That makes it so tragic. He betrayed everybody and it’s very, very sad. But, you can’t let him just run around and get away with it. People who rape people go to jail for the rest of their lives.”

Apatow added that Cosby likely selected struggling actresses as victims because they would be reluctant to speak out for fear of endangering their careers, and that the statute of limitations on sexual assault needed to be waaaay longer.

“There’s no reason why in California it should be six years,” Apatow said. “For violent crimes, it should be decades. I don’t understand why people should get off because they did it seven years ago.”
