Baltimore Protesters Actually Praise CNN

Protesters, whether they be in Ferguson or Baltimore, love to tell CNN to get bent, often right to the network’s cameras. But on Tuesday afternoon a pair of protesters thanked a CNN reporter for showing up and talking to them, saying more of the peaceful side of the protests needed to be shown.

CNN’s Ryan Young spoke to a group of men, some of whom said they were educators with the Baltimore school district, who had formed a line to help keep the potential agitators from spoiling the peaceful protests. They welcomed CNN’s cameras.

“I’m just glad that y’all are here getting the whole picture,” one man said. “Because today has been more peaceful than not.”

“I’m glad y’all are here to see the brighter side of Baltimore,” another man said. “Because they painted a picture about us about ‘Baltimore is on fire.’ Today is a new day. There’s unity. You got people cleaning up, you got people volunteering, kids volunteering, Baltimore’s finest helping out.”

Just a couple of hours ago President Barack Obama critiqued the media for only paying attention to the outrage in Baltimore when buildings had been set on fire.
