Ben Carson Announces 2016 Presidential Run: ‘I Don’t Want to Be a Politician’
On Monday morning, Dr. Ben Carson officially announced that he is running for president.
Speaking at the Charles Wright Museum of African American History in Detroit, Mich., Carson reminisced about his childhood in the impoverished city, invoked religious faith, cautioned the media, and declared himself un-politically-correct in a lengthy announcement of his 2016 candidacy.
Carson also invoked the right’s favorite bogeyman in Saul Alinsky, accusing opponents of using the anti-poverty activist’s famed Rules for Radicals to shut down conservative dissent. And the doctor also said he does not “want to be a politician,” and that, if elected, he will change the government to be more like a “well-run business behemoth.”
