Bill O’Reilly Pressed Trump ‘Man-to-Man, Eye-to-Eye’ About Not Releasing Epstein Files: ‘And I Agree’
Bill O’Reilly told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo that he spoke to President Donald Trump about his decision not to release the “Epstein Files” and he believes there is a middle ground the president should embrace.
O’Reilly joined Cuomo this week, where he addressed the fallout from a Department of Justice/FBI memo claiming there are no “Epstein Files,” despite Trump officials like Attorney General Pam Bondi specifically saying there are in the past.
“Epstein Files” primarily refer to a client list for the late billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who died of apparent suicide while in custody and facing sex trafficking charges. The billionaire was already a convicted child sex predator who hobnobbed for decades with the rich and famous, taking many to his private island where he allegedly abused numerous women.
O’Reilly said he “agreed” with Trump’s assessment that releasing all files related to Epstein’s case could “destroy” the lives of people who are not guilty of his crimes.
“I talked to President Trump, man-to-man, eye-to-eye, on St. Patrick’s Day about this and the Kennedy Files and the King Files. It was all one conversation. And he said — and I agree — There are a lot of names associated with Epstein that had nothing to do with Epstein’s conduct. They maybe had lunch with them or maybe had some correspondence for one thing or another,” the former Fox News host said.
He further argued that releasing the names of people who associated with Epstein, but may not be guilty of heinous crimes, would be irresponsible as the media would be too quick to push names without context.
“If that name gets out, those people are destroyed, because there’s not going to be any context. Media doesn’t care about context, so, you can’t do that. You can’t destroy a human being by putting out the files, whatever they may be,” he said.
Cuomo suggested at one point that Bondi “made a mistake” when she declared in February that an Epstein client list was sitting on her desk.
Trump supporters have been mostly split on the Epstein files, with some lashing out at the president for being dismissive on the topic. Trump called it “unbelievable” and a “waste” of time this week when a reporter brought up the late pedophile, despite the fact he was a central topic for many of his followers during Trump’s 2024 campaign.
O’Reilly suggested Bondi hold a press conference to release information related to Epstein’s case, while withholding names.
“I think President Trump could correct it anytime he wants to correct it. And that’s the question, I don’t know why he doesn’t,” he argued. “So all you’ve got to do is say to the attorney general, you’re going to hold a press conference, you’re going to tell them generally what we’ve learned about the Epstein case in a very methodical way. You’ll answer some questions, you’re not to mention any names because that could destroy people.”
