ABC News Axes Terry Moran Over Deleted Tweet Calling Trump and Top Adviser Haters

ABC News is not renewing its contract with senior national correspondent Terry Moran after a controversial tweet, now deleted, in which he criticized Stephen Miller, a long time adviser to President Donald Trump.
On June 8, Moran posted a tweet that mentioned both Miller and Trump, bashing them as “world-class hater[s].” The tweet read:
The thing about Stephen Miller is not that he is the brains behind Trumpism.
Yes, he is one of the people who conceptualizes the impulses of the Trumpist movement and translates them into policy.
But that’s not what’s interesting about Miller.
It’s not brains. It’s bile.
Miller is a man who is richly endowed with the capacity for hatred. He’s a world-class hater.
You can see this just by looking at him because you can see that his hatreds are his spiritual nourishment. He eats his hate.
Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only a means to an end, and that end his his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment.
Moran deleted the tweet, but that did little to quell the outrage from the White House and supporters of the president.
Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt tweeted that the White House had “reached out to [ABC News] to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry accountable.” Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, accused ABC News and Moran of “radical left-wing bias” and called for Moran to be “fired from the network immediately.”
According to a statement by an ABC News spokesperson that was provided to Mediaite, the network was “at the end of our agreement” with Moran and had “made the decision not to renew.” Moran’s tweet was specifically cited as the reason for the non-renewal, as “a clear violation of ABC News policies.”
The full statement from the ABC News spokesperson:
We are at the end of our agreement with Terry Moran and based on his recent post – which was a clear violation of ABC News policies – we have made the decision to not renew. At ABC News, we hold all of our reporters to the highest standards of objectivity, fairness and professionalism, and we remain committed to delivering straightforward, trusted journalism.
