Burglar Checks Facebook Profile While Robbing House, Forgets to Log Out
Ordinarily, here’s where you’d read something like “Pro-tip: log out of your FB account before leaving the house you’re robbing,” but that’s not actually a pro-tip.
St. Paul resident James Wood returned home last week to find his place ransacked and a good number of items missing, though the thief had left some clothing wet from the rain as recompense.
He also left himself logged into his Facebook account on Wood’s computer. Wood used the account to communicate with the thief and even offered to return his clothes. When the man showed up to collect, Wood called the cops.
The thief, Nicholas Wig, was even kind enough to wear the watch he’d stolen to the meeting, making the case against him pretty airtight. Pro-tip: don’t wear evidence of your theft to a meeting with the person you stole it from. I guess?
