C-SPAN Caller Gets Cut Off for Praising Trump’s Would-Be Assassins: ‘Take That Shot!’

A caller from on CSPAN was cut off by the host after he begun praising the individuals who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump.

The GOP nominee has faced two assassination attempts since running for the 2024 election — including one at a Pennsylvania rally where one Trump supporter was killed by a sniper. Over the weekend, an armed man hid in a bush with a rifle waiting for Trump as he played golf at his club in West Palm Beach.

During a Wednesday morning segment on CSPAN’s Washington Journal, host John McArdle received a call from a viewer identifying as “Willie from Louisiana.” The viewer began praising Trump’s would-be assassins for trying to “take that shot” at the former president. McArdle promptly cut off of the caller.

WILLIE: Good morning. I just want to say I’m a very patriotic American. I did 20 years in the military, two tours in Vietnam, wounded in 1966 went back to 68. And I look at myself…and to see we let this man Trump destroy America. And I look at it and say well these two people had to step up and take that shot! —

MCARDLE:  I’m sorry, Willie. You’re not advocating violence, are you?

WILLIE: Not violence. I’m talking about defending my country.
