C-SPAN Invites Embarrassing Pundit Mom to White House Correspondents Dinner

Shut it down, news outlets; C-SPAN just scored the best celebrity guest to Nerd Prom.

C-SPAN has invited Joyce Woodhouse and her two pundit sons, Brad and Dallas Woodhouse, to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25th. The family went viral after Joyce called in during a segment on Washington Journal, where her sons, both on opposite sides of the political spectrum, were going at each other over the necessity of bipartisanship. “I don’t know many families that are fightin’ at Thanksgiving,” Woodhouse drawled as her sons both cringed.

Network spokesman Howard Mortman told the North Carolina News-Observer that the video of her call, and her sons’ subsequent cringing, was C-SPAN’s fifth most popular video on YouTube — and that they’d break their tradition of not inviting celebrity guests just for the family. “For C-SPAN [Joyce] personifies the value of including calls –- the views, comments, opinions of our audience -– in our programming,” he said.
