Capt. Ron Johnson: ‘Pre-Planned Aggression’ Taking Place

Missouri Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson hosted an early morning press conference in Ferguson, Mo., Monday, telling media that “shooting, looting, vandalism and other acts of violence” occurred the previous evening.

Johnson said the rioting was not “civil disobedience, but pre planned aggression.” He also said “bottles and rockets” were thrown at police. Police had to “elevate” their response to the rioting, he said.

He estimated that two or three people were injured, but none were police officers.

Johnson concluded his statement, saying that “the few people bent on violence and destruction” would be drowned out by the majority of Ferguson’s citizens.

Ferguson has been in a state of unrest for the past week, following the police shooting of unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown, who was black. The officer who shot him to death is white.

Johnson spoke at a rally in Ferguson on Sunday, calling for communication, understanding, and faith.
