Car Dealer Tells Fox Business He’s ‘Very Concerned’ About Trump Tariffs Driving Prices Up $20k: ‘It’s a Bad Deal’

President Donald Trump’s new tariffs went into effect on Tuesday and have had an immediate and negative impact on the price of automobiles — according to a Fox Business report filed by Jeff Flock from a Pennsylvania auto dealer.

FBN anchor Lydia Hu asked Flock how car prices would be affected by these new tariffs, to which Flock chuckled and said, “I don’t think they’re coming down the ladder as a result of the tariffs. That’s one thing for sure. Take this Ram. This is a heavy-duty Ram truck built in Mexico. The sticker is $91,000 right now. Put the tariff on there, $120,000.”

“Can you sell it?” Flock asked the local dealer, David Kelleher, owner of David Auto in Glenn Mills, PA — who flatly replied, “No.”

“No, no, that Ram will not sell for that that amount,” Kelleher explained. Flock followed up by asking, “You’re worried?”

Yeah. I’m very concerned because it’s not every car we sell,” Kelleher said.

“You have to understand, for a dealer — I’m concerned about the dealers because every piece of volume we lose creates a debt,” he explained. “You know, we were hit on small margins and the profit margin is small. So if we lose a car to the tariffs, and it really is going to impact our dealerships and the dealerships of the guys in the community, the guys that work. Yeah, we impact our dealers in that fashion. Yeah, it’s a bad thing.”
