Chaffetz Suggests Political Equivalent of the ‘Death Penalty’ in Response to Sexual Misconduct

Former Congressman Jason Chaffetz today suggested the political equivalent of a “death penalty” in response to elected leaders who engage in sexual misconduct.

Chris Wallace brought up the renewed focus on Bill Clinton‘s past behavior, and Juan Williams, while noting the statements from Democrats and the liberal media on the subject, he said the GOP seems to be pushing “a false equivalency” between Clinton and Roy Moore.

The panel brought up Clinton’s impeachment and Chaffetz noted Clinton engaged in inappropriate behavior as president.

And then he said this:

“I’m glad that we’re elevating the debate. I’m glad that this is becoming totally unacceptable on both sides of the aisle, and there should be a huge and massive political price, if not essentially the death penalty for people who engage in this, and that they cannot serve at the highest levels of government.”

Wallace asked him to clarify, and Chaffetz said he wants “a political death penalty, which is: why should we put up with anybody serving at the highest level of government who engages in this, whether it was 40 years ago or whether it happened while you were in office.”

Chaffetz, of course, withdrew his support of President Trump after that Access Hollywood tape came out last year, but weeks later tweeted this:
