Charles Krauthammer Gets Snarky About The Liberal Obsession With Sarah Palin
Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer is getting sick of what he has deemed the “liberal obsession” with Sarah Palin. Cornered to comment on the latest Palin news by PBS’ Inside Washington host Gordon Peterson, Krauthammer snarkily remarked on the “weekly segment” on this “one glorious woman” and mocked liberals for suggesting that Palin “is and will always be the only representative of conservatism.”
Peterson introduced the segment with the latest Palin-Barbara Bush drama, asking Krauthammer to open up debate on the panel. Irritated, Krauthammer half-joked, “this is the weekly Sarah Palin segment in which the impression is given that the whole of conservatism in America is encapsulated in this one glorious woman.” Peterson took it as a sign Krauthammer opposed Palin’s rise in the Republican Party– a claim Krauthammer refuted and clarified: “I never took a position on her candidacy. I’m making a comment on the editorial judgment of this show in which she is prominently featured week after week.”
His opposition to discussing Sarah Palin was met with some contention from co-panelist Colby King, who argued conservatives were much indebted to Palin for her role in revitalizing the party post-2008. Still, Krauthammer used this argument as proof that “in the liberal imagination she is and will always be the only representative of conservatism.”
