Chris Cuomo Predicts Nuclear War Between Trump and ‘Clearly Butthurt’ Elon Musk Ends in Explosive Defamation Suit
NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo warned Elon Musk that his growing rift with President Donald Trump could potentially end in an explosive defamation suit that the billionaire will likely lose.
Cuomo took to the airwaves on Thursday evening following a day filled with a war of words between Trump and Musk. The president said at the White House that he was “disappointed” in Musk’s criticism of his “Big Beautiful Bill,” and eventually the rift grew to the point where Trump was threatening to cancel Musk’s government contracts, and Musk was suggesting he could throw his billions behind a new third political party.
Cuomo aired a clip from February on his Chris Cuomo Project where he predicted this exact feud, theorizing at the time, “There’s only room for one bull in the yard.”
“So much for the idea, this lefty trope, that Musk was running the White House because he’s clearly butthurt about being on the outside,” he said on NewsNation.
Cuomo said he agreed with Trump’s assessment that Musk has “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” focusing on Musk accusing the president of hiding the “Epstein files” because his name is on the flight logs. The much-talked-about list refers to possible associates of the late Jeffrey Epstein, a child sex offender accused of flying the rich and famous to a private island to sexually assault women, many of them underage.
“It wasn’t a question, it was an accusation. And it implies Trump is a pedophile, to my ears. Now, Trump hasn’t responded. Some are taking this as an admission. I think, again, unless Musk does some serious ass-kissing on the quick, Trump is going to sue him for defamation. And if Trump sues, I think he wins,” Cuomo predicted.
The NewsNation host criticized Trump’s litigious nature, but argued he’d have a solid case with the “Epstein files” accusation since Musk had White House access through his work with DOGE.
“Trump could argue not only is the allegation false, but that Musk knows it’s false. He knows what he said is BS. And then he could force a huge settlement,” he said.
The only way Musk could come out on top in a defamation suit, Cuomo continued, would be if he actually had copies of these “Epstein files” he’s referring to.
“First, if he does have them, shame on you, Elon. Shame on you for keeping them quiet. You want to pretend you’re with the majority and not the fringes, tweeting, we need another party for reasonable folks, and then you keep this hidden? That’s reasonable? No, it’s fraud. And if you can’t prove it, this is an ugly thing to suggest, and you deserve the drop in your stocks and your status,” Cuomo said.
At the end of the day, he concluded, Musk is in a losing battle with Trump.
“I think Elon Musk needs him a lot more, and I think he went way too far if he doesn’t have the proof,” he said.
