Classmate of Charleston Shooting Suspect: He Was ‘Wild,’ Not Violent, Took Drugs

charleston classmateA classmate of Charleston shooting suspect Dylann Storm Roof spoke out on CNN this afternoon about what Roof was like when they were in high school.

John Mullins shared some information about Roof with John Berman. He had said earlier today Roof had taken some drugs, and clarified that he never saw anything firsthand, only heard about it through others that he was taking Xanax and other drugs.

He said Roof wasn’t a “loner” and even had black friends, and wasn’t really a violent person. Roof was “wild,” Mullins said, but not “violently” so.

Beyond that, he didn’t know much about what Roof has been up to since high school, though Roof’s uncle said that his father gave him a gun for his birthday in April.
