CNBC Promotes Election Coverage With Rick Santelli’s Tea Party Rant

As we told you earlier, CNBC’s election night coverage points us toward the future by promising some exclusive ‘4D’ coverage. But according to a promo they’ve been airing today, they’re also pointing us toward the past—specifically Rick Santelli’s now-infamous 2009 rant, which many say sparked the Tea Party movement. The CNBC ad also predicts that the election will “shift the balance of power from coast to coast,” making no bones about the type of viewer they’re courting for the big night.

President Obama,” Santelli yells in the clip repurposed by CNBC. “Are you listening?” That question has been echoed many times since it first aired on February 19, 2009, and the fiscally oriented network apparently hopes viewers will remember that when they decide where to watch election results tomorrow night.
