CNN: Ball Bearings Used In Explosive Devices, Multiple Amputations Being Performed, Wounded 132+

As information continues to pour in from the Boston-area hospitals tending to those injured in the bombing attacks on the Boston Marathon on Monday, CNN has confirmed that the explosive devices that did detonate were loaded with ball bearings. Those devices, already low to the ground, have resulted in a number of injuries and have forced hospitals to perform amputations on the wounded who have suffered damage to their lower extremities.

CNN’s Erin Burnett reported that doctors are extracting ball bearings from people injured in the attack.

“At least, right now, 10 amputations,” Burnett continued. She said that the devices are likely to have been placed low to the ground, which could account for the number of leg injuries.

Burnett reported that the number of people injured in the attack has been increased to more than 132 with two dead, including an 8-year-old boy.
