CNN Producer Who Knew Lafayette Shooter: ‘Politically Charged,’ Held ‘Fringe Ideologies’

A CNN producer who knew the Lafayette movie theater shooter spoke to Jake Tapper today about what he knew about John Russel Houser and his political beliefs.

Wes Bruer told Tapper he once lived down the street from Houser, and said he was a “very politically charged person” involved in local politics, as well as a paranoid person.

“We do remember things like him flying a Confederate flag outside of his house or a ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ flag,” Bruer said, leading them to think “he may have some sort of fringe ideologies.”

Lots of information has come out today about Houser, including how he had violent tendencies and how he wrote about all the “filth” in America in online postings.
