CNN To Launch New Morning Show Co-Hosted By Chris Cuomo
CNN is undergoing quite the staffing shuffle with the Jeff Zucker taking over — and that includes morning programming. With CNN officially welcoming ABC News’ Chris Cuomo to the family, the network announced that Cuomo would be part of a new morning show.
Cuomo “will have a major role in a new CNN morning show and across the network, anchoring and reporting on major events,” the network’s statement informed. Both Deadline and POLITICO reported that he’ll likely be co-hosting the show with Erin Burnett, who anchors CNN’s 7 p.m. slot. No word on who would replace her in primetime.
As for Soledad O’Brien who currently heads CNN’s morning show, Starting Point? Also unclear. “Soledad is very important to the network, and we’re discussing various options with her,” a CNN spokesperson told POLITICO.
Meanwhile, over at ABC, following Cuomo’s departure, David Muir will join Elizabeth Vargas as co-anchor on 20/20, while continuing to anchor World News on the weekends. Muir, you may recall, was the most-used reporter on broadcast news in 2011 and 2012.
