Colbert Delivers UVA Commencement Speech, Jabs At Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Affirmative’ ‘Actions’

 

On Saturday, Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert delivered the commencement address to the University of Virginia’s graduating class of 2013. “Why are you leaving,” Colbert asked the students. He went on to discuss some of the university’s secret societies and confessed his membership. Colbert went on to discuss the philosophy of the university’s founder, Thomas Jefferson. He said that the Founding Father was known for “embracing diversity” and was “very affirmative in his actions.”
