Colbert Takes Aim at Jeb: That Exclamation Point Makes You Forget His Last Name!
Stephen Colbert returned with his first show of 2016 Monday night, where he devoted part of The Late Show to talking about how Jeb Bush tries really, really hard to make his presidential campaign more exciting.
Bush, of course, has struggled to make his campaign as exciting as that of Donald Trump‘s, but measures like the Jeb! catchphrase has seen only limited success. Colbert noted that the trademark itself was on the cusp of an interesting time, however; although Bush previously applied to trademark it, he let the application lapse back in November.
Declaring this news to be “the most interesting development ever to come out of Jeb’s campaign,” Colbert explained that now Bush will be able to explore other emotions outside of the excitement cycle. Colbert pitched ideas for a variety of alternatives, even offering at one point “Jeb;” with a semi-colon, because “you know its smart, but you don’t know what it is or where it belongs.”
Poor Jeb!
