Cooper to Podesta: Is Hillary ‘Embarrassed’ About Something in Wall Street Transcripts?
CNN’s Anderson Cooper confronted Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta after tonight’s debate over exactly why she’s still so strident in not releasing Wall Street transcripts.
Clinton has continued to insist she’ll release it when every other candidate does. Sanders “released” his zero speeches, and as Cooper told Podesta, she can’t really extend her objection to the Republican field when this is something Democrats are going after her on.
Podesta insisted she’s being held to a double standard. Cooper asked if they wouldn’t just release them and “put this whole topic to bed” if there was nothing “problematic” within.
When Podesta continued to dismiss the issue, Cooper didn’t let up:
“I just don’t understand. It does seem like there must be something that she said that she would be embarrassed to have come out, or else you guys wouldn’t keep letting this issue hang out there.”
Podesta replied, “If there was something that she said, it would have come out.”
