Dan Abrams On GMA: New Zimmerman Tape A ‘Game Changer’

Mediaite founder and ABC legal analyst Dan Abrams appeared on Good Morning America Thursday, where he told host Robin Roberts that the recently-released video of George Zimmerman from the night he shot Trayvon Martin has the potential of being a “game changer.”

“It’s a very significant piece of evidence,” said Abrams of the video. “Remember, the authorities have had this. They’ve seen it already. They know it. But I think, in particular, in the court of public opinion among those who have been inclined to believe Zimmerman, this could be a game changer.”

While cautioning that, yes, we aren’t able to see everything in this video, Abrams noted that there’s nothing in it that visibly indicates Zimmerman’s head was bashed or his nose broken — no apparent swelling or blood on is face or clothing. “I do think,” he said, “that this becomes very significant, in particular in the national debate and I think it’ll be significant as the authorities — as the state authorities, as the federal authorities — look into this case.”

It’s unclear whether the tape will be shown before the grand jury, he continued, although it is customary to show as much evidence as possible in high profile cases such as this.
