Dem Senator Chris Coons to Fox’s Neil Cavuto: Kamala Harris Should Do a Debate on Fox News

Harris campaign co-chair Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) said he would “absolutely” advise Vice President Kamala Harris to accept the invitation by Fox News to engage in another debate with former President Donald Trump.

Just hours before Tuesday’s debate Fox News pitched both the Trump and Harris campaigns on an additional presidential debate proposed for October in letters obtained by Mediaite. The network offered the candidates the same ruleset as the ABC and CNN hosted debates, suggesting Fox News anchors Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators in a 90-minute format with muted mics and no audience present.

The senator appeared Wednesday for an interview with Fox News host Neil Cavuto, who Trump had trashed for his claim that the Republican “decisively lost” the ABC News debate Harris.

Cavuto asked the Democrat: “Having said all of that, senator, I wonder whether you would advise Kamala Harris to have another debate? Or should she just sit on this one?”

Coons laughed out loud and replied: “Absolutely!”

He continued: “I think she had a great night. She managed to draw him out on some of the worst of his rambling conspiracy theories and backwards-looking, angry focus, and she managed to present a positive and forward-looking agenda.

The senator added: “I think the American people would love to hear more from both of them: ‘What will you do to make us safer and stronger at home and abroad?’ And she should accept an invitation from Fox to come on and debate President Trump.”
