Democratic Candidate Opens Up About Past Life as Male Stripper

Yes, Democratic politician John Burkhalter was once a male stripper and, no, he’s not ashamed to admit it.

The Arkansas candidate for lieutenant governor told CBS’s local affiliate that “I did have that job for a while, a very short time.” He recalled more details:

[The stripping] was when I was in Little Rock. I’ve always been an athlete, and I was actually buying cows from a farm … I had 17 acres in a little place called Billy Goat Hill, which is in North Pulaski County, and I was trying to make my way in life.

Burkhalter is now a millionaire engineer, who says he’s “lived the American dream” by coming from a blue-collar background, working a variety of jobs before starting his own successful business.

“I am that guy that came from nothing,” he emphasized.
