Do Not Ask Tom Hiddleston About His Relationship With Taylor Swift
Tom Hiddleston appeared on Today with Savannah Guthrie this morning to discuss his new movie, Kong: Skull Island. But, Hiddleston dated Taylor Swift briefly in 2016, and so of course we are all still talking about it, and during the interview, Guthrie went there.
Referencing his GQ cover story from last month, in which he confirmed that their relationship was definitely “real” and not a publicity stunt, Guthrie said, “Don’t kill me for asking,” before asking him “What it was like to go through that all and be in the public eye.”
Hiddleston became visibly uncomfortable and took a moment before saying “I make a clear distinction between my work, which I absolutely dedicate myself to, which is for the public. I really believe in that relationship between an actor and the audience. You can’t call yourself an actor without the audience. And my private life is private.”
His statement echoes one he gave in an interview with The Telegraph. When asked whether he regrets his relationship with Swift, he said “I would rather not talk about this if that’s alright.”
