Don Lemon Blasts Trump’s Charlottesville Remarks: One of Those ‘Very Fine People’ Was Found Guilty of Murder Today
At the top of his 10 pm show, CNN’s Don Lemon called out President Donald Trump for claiming he only hired the best people and questioned the president’s judgment especially when it came to those he dubbed “the best” and “very fine.”
“We’re going to make America great again. We’re going to use our best people,” Trump said in a clip that played during Lemon’s show. “I’m going to get the best people. We’re going to deliver. We’re going to get the best people in the world.”
Lemon then said with a laugh, “I wonder what like the worst people would be. I mean can you imagine? What are the worst people?”
Then after pointing out the number of Trump hires that hardly turned out to be the best — including Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen — Lemon noted that is not the only time that he said Trump’s judgment was in question.
The CNN host then played a clip of Trump saying this after Charlottesville: “You also had people that were very fine people on both sides. You had people in that group — excuse me. Excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did.”
“Very fine people on both sides. Very fine people on both sides,” Lemon repeated. “One of those very fine people was found guilty today of first-degree murder in the death of Heather Heyer.”
He then stressed, ” So when this president talks about very fine people, all the best people, think about that.”
