Don Lemon: Trump ‘Blamed the Victim’ at Rally, ‘Disgusting Testament for How He Leads This Country’
“I’m pissed.”
CNN’s Don Lemon briefly spoke with Chris Cuomo tonight before his show began to express his disgust after the bomb scare at their network earlier today.
After becoming the second person at CNN to call out Trump’s lack of “testicular fortitude” tonight, Lemon said, “I am so sick and tired of people coming on television and equating a First Amendment right of protest to a potential act of terrorism. They are not equivalent, and we shouldn’t let them get away with it! Because it’s not the same thing!”
Lemon was particularly outraged at Trump criticizing the media for its role in the lack of civility:
“He blamed the victim tonight! For him to sit there and blame us––we’re the victims here––it’s disgusting.”
Earlier tonight Anderson Cooper noted that Trump’s comments were also hypocritical.
He brought up Trump’s “enemy of the people” rhetoric and said while we don’t know the motivation yet of the person or people who sent the bomb, there’s a serious question about the President’s rhetoric.
Cuomo said Trump could have easily acknowledged his own rhetoric and told people to ease up, to which Lemon said, “He can’t do it, he’s not a big enough man to do it!”
Lemon brought up everyone he works with at the network and the terrifying thought of what could’ve happened to them before reiterating, “I watched the President of the United States add insult to injury––he couldn’t even mention us and then he blamed the victim. It is a disgusting testament for how he leads this country and the words that come out of his mouth.”
