‘Don’t Look at Me Like That!’ CNN Democratic Pundit Snipes at GOP Counterpart in Testy Debate Over Why Trump Won

Democratic CNN commentator Karen Finney sniped at GOP panelist counterpart Michael Singleton as she attempted to refute his claim that Americans had it better in President-elect Donald Trump’s first term than under President Joe Biden.

Analysis from the panel came as final figures from the election were trickling but as Trump was projected to win. Host Kasie Hunt led the discussion about the economic indicators under Biden trending in the right direction.

She said: “But it seems like rich people are feeling that and working class people aren’t. Isn’t that the basic message here? Isn’t that what we’re learning from voters? Coalition is saying this isn’t working for me.”

Singleton argued that Democratic analysts and activists were “aloof” to the fact that voters didn’t care about “charts” but cared about “how much money they have at the end of every single week.”

He said: “You can point to all the charts. People know how much money they have at the end of every single week. They know how much goods cost in the grocery store today compared to four years, five years ago. Running on the message that Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have done wonderful things for the economy is just not real for everyday people and it’s why they said with all due respect we’re rejecting this notion. We do want to go back to at least the first two years of the Trump term.”

“That doesn’t exist. You can’t [go back],” Finney jibed.

“Why didn’t your candidate win then?” Singleton returned.

Finney tried to continued: “It doesn’t have to do with whether or not we won. My point is, you’re going to get in a time machine and go back four year with… that’s not the point I’m making. The point…”

She stopped: “Don’t look at me like that.”

“What’s the point?” Singleton pressed.

“The point I’m trying to make is where we were in 2017 and 2018, we can’t just get in a time machine and go back,” she said.

“The point is your message didn’t resonate,” Singleton said.
