Emotional Meredith Vieira Announces She’s Leaving The Today Show In June

 

An emotional moment this morning on The Today Show as Meredith Vieira officially announced her departure from the show which will take place next month. Sitting next to Matt Lauer, Al Roker, Ann Curry and Natalie Morales, Vieira revealed how much she loved the job but how she truly wanted more time to spend with her family.

Lauer and Curry described Vieira’s impact on the show, and what a joy it was to work with her. Curry will be replacing Vieira as Lauer’s co-host and Morales will be replacing Curry. Continuing the musical chairs, White House correspondent and MSNBC anchor Savannah Guthrie will replace Morales to co-host the show’s third hour. Vieira plans on remaining with NBC News, in a diminished capacity and suggested she might drop by her second home at Today from time to time.
