Eric Adams Sits Down for Interview With Tucker Carlson – Who He Once Branded As ‘Racist’

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who once branded Tucker Carlson a “racist” propagandist, sat down with the MAGA firebrand in a wide-ranging 50-minute interview that aired Tuesday night.

With his approval rating languishing at a dismal 22 percent and re-election prospects looking bleak, Adams has increasingly aligned himself with former President Donald Trump—who has hinted he might consider pardoning the scandal-plagued mayor. Trump recently claimed Adams was “treated pretty unfairly” by federal investigators, suggesting his legal woes stem from criticism of the Biden administration’s immigration policies.

As The Independent journalist Justin Baragona pointed out, however, the sit-down marks a stark reversal from Adams’ fiery 2021 stance when he accused Carlson of spreading “racist, anti-immigrant propaganda.”

At the time, Carlson lauded Adams on his then-Fox News show for being willing to criticize “smug, fussy liberals” while acknowledging crime as a serious issue before Adams rebutted the compliment.

“I don’t want or need the support of Tucker Carlson, or anyone else who perpetuates racist, anti-immigrant propaganda,” Adams posted on social media back in May 2021.

Fast forward to January 2025, and Adams, now embroiled in a federal corruption scandal, appears to be pivoting. Facing five felony charges, including conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bribery, the embattled mayor is under immense legal pressure. Federal prosecutors have hinted that even more charges could be forthcoming.

During the Carlson interview, Adams made a striking admission, claiming, “The party left me, and it left working-class people,” responding to criticism that he no longer sounds like a Democrat.
