Eric Holder Doesn’t Rule Out Potentially Dismantling Ferguson PD

Attorney General Eric Holder has not yet made a final determination on the Ferguson police department, but today he did not rule out the possibility of dismantling the PD entirely.

The Justice Department released its report this week on how the Ferguson police not only targeted black people in significantly disproportionate numbers, but they did so for revenue-raising purposes.

Holder told reporters today that reforming them “means everything from working with them to, you know, coming up with an entirely new structure.”

When asked if that includes “dismantling the police force,” Holder said, “If that’s what’s necessary, we’re prepared to do that.”
