Erika Kirk Recalls Heartbreaking Conversations With Daughter in First Interview Since Charlie Kirk Assassination
Erika Kirk recounted the heartbreaking conversations she’s had with her 3-year-old daughter since the assassination of her husband Charlie Kirk in an exclusive sit-down interview with Fox News.
The late Kirk, who co-founded Turning Point USA, a right-wing advocacy group that went on to back President Donald Trump during the 2024 election, was fatally shot during a student Q&A event at Utah Valley University in an attack on September 10.
In a clip from the interview shared with Mediaite, Watters talked with Kirk’s widow, who he married in 2021 and with whom he had two children, about how she relayed the news of his death to his young daughter.
“You told your children that Charlie was going on a work trip with Jesus. Are they still asking where’s daddy?” Watters asked.
Erika Kirk replied: “Yes, my daughter continues to ask, but it’s really sweet, because I keep explaining to her a few things, and I said, if ever you want to talk to daddy you just look up to the sky and start talking to him, he can hear you.’”
She continued, in tears: “And I told her, I said, ‘you know daddy, daddy is in heaven.’ She goes: ‘Do you think I could go sometime?’ I said: ‘Baby, we will all go one day. We will all go one day.’”
Erika Kirk’s interview with the Fox News host will be her first sit down since her husband’s assassination and is set to air Wednesday, November 5, during Jesse Watters Primetime with an extended, multi-part FOX Nation docuseries to follow on Friday.
The broadcast will also come one day before FOX Nation hosts its seventh annual Patriot Awards ceremony on Thursday, during which it will honor Erika Kirk with the inaugural “Charlie Kirk Legacy Award.”
