Ex-Navy Officer ‘Disappointed’ Sailor Apologized to Iran: ‘No Business’ Doing That
An ex-Navy officer on CNN this afternoon admitted he really wasn’t happy that one of the U.S. soldiers held by Iran ended up apologizing on video.
Christopher Harmer told Brooke Baldwin that violations of airspace or water space in the Persian Gulf are unfortunately common. He lamented how any soldier representing the Navy––and by extension the government––would be “apologizing on behalf of the U.S. government.”
He said every officer is trained to only give certain information and then “be quiet” if you’re in custody. Harmer said that whatever else happens, this incident is “very valuable” in Iran for the propaganda aspect.
